The First Christian Church Concert Series is presenting "Brass and Bronze," featuring the Pikes Peak Ringers and the Stellar Brass Quintet and percussion from the Air Force Academy Band, all directed by Kevin McChesney. The program will feature original works, classical transcriptions, hymn arrangements, and McChesney's award-winning composition Dona nobis pacem, which the Pikes Peak Ringers just recorded with Yo Yo Ma in Boston on November 4. A free will offering will be taken.

The Pikes Peak Ringers is an auditioned community handbell choir. The group was established in 1991 by its director, Kevin McChesney, to provide an outlet for advanced ringers and to create performances that showcase the instrument of handbells with the highest quality presentation and musicianship. The group has performed a wide variety of music and has a unique style of visual and musical presentation. They have performed throughout the Pikes Peak region and have four CDs available: By Request; Ring We Now of Christmas; Standing Room Only; and In Concert With; and two DVDs: Ring of Fire, a live Concerto performance; and Music in Motion, an instructional DVD. Check out their website at www.pikespeakringers.com.

Described by the International Trumpet Guild as "an ensemble full of variety, panache and virtuosity," Stellar Brass combines percussion instruments with a traditional brass quintet, resulting in an original and innovative musical ensemble performing a broad range of eclectic, musical styles. In performances, Stellar Brass magically and instantly transforms into many different forms: from a marching band, to a jazz band, and even to barbershop quartet! As truly one of the most popular and outstanding ensembles of its kind in North America, Stellar Brass list of achievements is long and impressive: internationally distributed audio and video recordings and broadcasts; nationally recognized and respected as clinicians, presenting university, college, and high school master classes; performances at civic and military ceremonies; performances at prestigious symposia; and highly-coveted public performances at major concert halls throughout America, including Carnegie Hall in New York.
