We invite you to experience the historical side of our city by touring one of its oldest homes, the McAllister House Museum. Once known as "Little London," the community of Colorado Springs boasted a cosmopolitan atmosphere unmatched in its time. Major Henry McAllister, a noted Civil War veteran and one of our early pioneers, community leaders and benefactors, built this charming house in 1873. Knowledgeable guides and staff recreate the atmosphere of the early history of the family and city, making the house and its occupants live again. The museum has been restored to its original Victorian elegance by the National Society of Colonial Dames of America in the State of Colorado and is listed in the National Register of Historical Places.
