Matthew Crawford and Caron O’Neil, featured artists In a departure from his usual work, Matthew will explore the beauty of imperfect materials in the show Diamonds and Rust. He will incorporate rusted steel, diamonds, and textured/unpolished gold to create ornament from what would otherwise be considered unusable material. Most pieces will be small jewelry items, however some will incorporate small pedestals, so that the wearable portion may be displayed as part of a unified sculptural work. Caron O’Neil, with her fun imagination, finds disgarded items both man-made and natural for her mixed media sculpture and jewelry, bringing life and creativity back into things once lost or forgotten. Caron likes to call her work echo art. Please join us for an opening reception on Friday, July 20, 2007 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Commonwheel Gallery.
