The Tri-Lakes Center for the Arts (TLCA) celebrates Mardi Gras with "Honorary Louisiana Bluesman" Sammy Dee Morton. Bring your favorite Valentine and enjoy a TLCA-style Mardi Gras extravaganza! We supply the beads and other trappings of a New Orleans Mardi Gras party, as well as some unforgettable Louisiana, and Texas style Blues. Sammy Dee has been playing this style of Blues for 25 years, and his smooth, soulful and energetic way of playing has captured many an ear.

Sammy Dee believes that "Blues is medicine for the soul" and he delivers a toe-tapping, hand-clapping prescription of medicine that will have you calling for more!! Sammy Dee earned his "bona fides" while playing alongside Blues and Cajun performers such as Kenny Neal, Debbie Davies, Tab Benoit, and the "Rajin Cajun," Doug Kershaw.

While touring with Kershaw, Sammy Dee found himself at the New Orleans Jazz Festival in the company of such greats as Al Green and B.B. King and opening for Steppenwolf in Austin, Texas. Sammy Dee spent five and a half years touring with the Rajin Cajun in the U.S, Canada, and overseas. He has appeared on multiple recordings, including his latest, Business Is Business and Sammy Dee LIVE, which was recorded at the Boulder Theater. Sammy Dee received his title of “Honorary Louisiana Bluesman” from the Louisiana Music Commission.
