Jeffrey Wasserstrom will present this year’s Gaylord Endowed Lecture in Pacific Area Studies with a discussion about the past, present, and future of Shanghai. He is a professor of history at the University of California-Irvine and is the author of several works on China, including "Global Shanghai, 1850 – 2010: A History in Fragments" (2009) and "China’s Brave New World and Other Tales for Global Times" (2007). His newest work, "China in the 21st Century: What Everyone Needs to Know," will be published by Oxford University Press in April.
