The Modbo is pleased to announce the creation of The Modbo Collective, a group of eight of the most talented, up-and-coming artists in Colorado Springs. Comprised of Phil Lear, Lindsay Hand, Brett Andrus, Douglas Rouse, Lorenzo White, Chris Weed, Troy Derose, and Shannon Dunn, the Collective will premier with a group show this Friday, March 12th, 2010 at 5:30 pm.

The function of The Modbo Collective is to produce a body of work that continuously challenges and raises the standard for art in our community. Meeting two to three times a month for discussion and critique, the Collective strives to create art within the historical context of an artistic community, rather than the current paradigm of each man for himself. The Modbo Collective will open this Friday with a show consisting of narrative figurative paintings with an emphasis on emotion and the ability to create a connection between the pieces and the everyday viewer. The Collective will be exclusively represented by The Modbo with continued second Friday openings.

For the opening on Friday the 12th, food will be provided by McCabe’s tavern, beer by Bristol, and there will be live music by Sarah Musick.
