Brooks is the son of legendary Chicago blues man Lonnie Brooks. "I grew up among the best of the best," Brooks says. "Every time I play, I feel like I've got to do it with the authenticity and passion that I saw in guys like Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, B.B. King and my father. But I also have to put my twist on it. None of those guys repeated what came before them." Brooks' twist involves enlivening blues-rock with deep soul and funk rhythms. Working with Minneapolis producer Jellybean Johnson, a veteran collaborator of Prince and Janet Jackson, Brooks takes roots sounds and transforms them into something that spans the ages.
“Ronnie wowed the audience at the Trinidaddio Blues Festival in 2007 and 2009 as well as at the Crystola Roadhouse when we brought him there in 2008,” says Amy Whitesell of A Music Company Inc. “We brought in the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Revue in 2007 with Ronnie, Tommy Castro, Deanna Bogart and Magic Dick and it was at that show, [Ronnie’s first appearance in the area] that blues fans were introduced to this master showman. It’s not just Ronnie’s musical ability that wows the audience, but it’s his jaw-dropping show that people walk away talking about, you have to see it to believe it.”

Tickets:
Tickets are $18 in advance and $23 the day of the show. A special VIP ticket is available for $38 and includes a reserved seat and prime rib dinner. Tickets may be purchased online at www.amusiccompanyinc.com or at the Crystola Roadhouse. KRCC members may purchase limited discounted tickets for $12 at the studio.
