“Raised by Raindrops and Asphalt” explores Deva Crouch’s personal transition from childhood into womanhood. The drawings range from exaggerated childhood memories to images more ordinary to adults—a man she sat next to on his way to work, or a woman caught in the rain, clutching her umbrella. While Crouch relies on common facial expressions to tell complex stories, she employs slight contortions to her subjects in order to highlight specific emotions or to capture a telling moment.

The opening reception is on first Friday April 2nd 6-9pm . Open and free to the public. The exhibition will run April 2-May 22. The gallery is open everyday noon to 6pm.
