Second Sunday Jazz Affair

Add Review/Comment
For May’s Second Sunday Affair, saxophonist Jacob Herold will return to the Pikes Peak Jazz & Swing Society's monthly event leading a quartet of fine Denver-area musicians. The band will perform original compositions and fresh arrangements of classic tunes in the styles of jazz, swing, bossa, and American roots music. Many of the selections will honor our May 9th theme: Mother's Day! The band features ASCAP award-winner, Ben Markley on piano; Springs native and now international touring artist, Ian Hutchison on double bass; and one of Colorado's most called-upon percussionists, Todd Reid on drum set. The afternoon will also showcase this year's winners of the Danny Stevenson Memorial Scholarship Award, of which Jacob was the recipient in 2003. The final set will be open to other musicians as a jam session. Tickets are available at the door; reservations are not necessary. There will also be dancing, door prizes, a cash bar plus a full buffet and dessert bar available for purchase.
