Cottonwood Center for the Arts is a community of more than seventy studio artists, instructors, patrons, and volunteers located on the east side of downtown Colorado Springs. As a non-profit corporation, Cottonwood’s mission is to provide quality art instruction, space for artists to exhibit and sell their work, and an environment for a thriving arts community. Always seeking new ways to create awareness in our community, its history and culture, Cottonwood is preparing to host their first juried art show to honor our military. The military in Colorado Springs shares a noble presence dating back to 1942. This show will feature the original artwork of regional artists, students, cadets, service members, as well as selected historical pieces on loan from the Air Force Academy and Fort Carson. Opening Friday, May 28th from 5:00 pm – 8:30pm, “Tribute” will be located in the C. B. Herbertson Gallery on the first floor at Cottonwood Center for the Arts, and showing through June 17th. Art holds the capacity to reflect aspects of history on a personal human level. As a community Cottonwood hopes to continue to reach-out, invite, involve, and honor our military and their families. For more information on how to participate in “Tribute” please see our “Call for Entries” at: http://cottonwoodcenterforthearts.com/call-for-entries.html.
