Japanese Language students from PPCC will perform the original play for the thirteenth and last time. While performed entirely in Japanese, subtitles are provided and the play will be narrated in English by Mike Madson, PPCC adjunct faculty and Chief Meteorologist for KOAA TV. The Japanese Consul General, Mr. Kubo, Kazuaki, will attend as the special guest of honor.

The play was written and directed by Ms. Rieko McAdams, Japanese Language Faculty, who also donates the stunning, authentic costumes and props every year. Michael Stansbery, Theater Department Chair, provides lighting and technical assistance. The production is always visually beautiful. The setting of the play is 19th century Japan, illustrating the typical Samurai lifestyle of love and conflict between two families. A warrior falls in love with a beautiful princess and must prove himself to win her heart and her father's approval.
