The Palmer Lake Historical Society, with the Tri-Lakes Center for the Arts and Project Lighthouse, is sponsoring a one-day Native American Festival. This is a celebration of Native history and culture and will include storytellers, demonstrations of Native drums and dancers, Native art and artisans, an exhibit of birds of prey by HawkQuest, and plenty of Native vendors and food. The Festival will end with a concert at the Art Center featuring Native American Music Award-winning musician Arvel Bird, who will be accompanied by Native dancers.

This Festival is not a powwow - drums by invitation only! This is an educational event for the entire family and an opportunity to learn and ask questions about Native culture, history, dances and music. Storytellers will provide a verbal history of their tribes; Native singers will explain the meaning and significance of the drum and songs. Native dancers will describe the different regalia worn by dancers and explain and demonstrate some of the various Native dances. Native artists and craftsmen will demonstrate their skills and exhibit their paintings, jewelry, beadwork, and more. HawkQuest will exhibit birds of prey and answer questions about these birds, which have great meaning in the Native culture. Arvel Bird, a Paiute/Métis Native Fiddler /Flutist, will close out the Festival with an evening concert at the Tri-Lakes Center for the Arts. This will be a fun and entertaining evening for all.
