Cara is a German band, rooted in Irish and Scottish traditional music, but with ambitions to create new and unique sound. Cara is a quintet and plays a well-balanced mix of songs and tunes of traditional and newly composed material. Most of which are written by the band members themselves. The two female lead singers are surely a hallmark of the band, but the quality standard for instrumentals and arrangements are equally high. Cara has got everything it takes for a folk band to connect with its audience. Due to the amazing talent of Cara, they have won Scotland’s Irish Music Award in the category of Best New Irish Music Artist. Cara has released two CD’s so far “In Colour” and “In Between Times” and both albums have received critical acclaim. Sing Out magazine describes Cara as “A German band with an Irish name who play Scots/Irish, European, and original tunes and ballads.” The Tucson Weekly says of Cara, “It’s tough to ignore music this robust and rich.”
