Meet at the North Main Parking Lot in the Park at 6 p.m. for a free hike along the Central Garden Trail to observe the boomerang-shaped White-throated Swifts, as they prepare for their autumn migration with unusual flight activity and sunset roosting behavior. These fascinating birds are one of the reasons that our Garden of the Gods Park is a National Natural Landmark as the Park is "one of the largest summer and migratory roosting sites for the White-throated Swifts along the Rocky Mountain Front Range." Please dress for the weather (event will be cancelled in case of rain). Binoculars helpful, but not required. Wear sturdy shoes, bring water, jacket and hat as needed. Reservations: 719-219-0108.
