The Cheyenne Mountain Heritage Center and the Pikes Peak Historical Street Railway Foundation are teaming up to bring you a presentation and gallery opening on the history and possible future of Colorado Springs trolley system. Once upon a time, trolleys ruled the roads here in the Springs and brough all classes of people together on a daily basis. When Winfield Scott Stratton purchased the railway in 1899 he fastly improved and expanded the system which helped to grow the Cheyenne Mountain region and included the construction of Stratton Park Station in north Cheyenne Canon, a Sunday excursion for many Springs residence. Now the question of whether or not a trolley car system would benefit our community by increasing tourist revenue has piqued our interest. Enjoy an evening with Greg Roberts, Senior Restoration Specialist and Howard Noble, V.P. and Chief Operations Officer, while they share the history of the C.S. trolley system and its possible future. This event is free and open to the public (donations welcome!) at the Cheyenne Mountain Heritage Center, 1118 W. Cheyenne Road. Gallery hours are Tuesdays, 10-3 p.m; Friday and Saturday evenings 7-9 p.m. The exhibit is free and open through the end of December. For more information contact CMHC at 632-7000 or visit our website at www.CMHeritageCenter.org.
