Two projects comprise Exchange Economies: The Aphrodite Project and Made in India. Both projects uncover the ideologies and practices that support local and global systems of circulation of goods and services, prompting an examination of covert systems of exchange and the implications of the increasing globalization of markets.
The Aphrodite Project: Platforms explores the historical and contemporary links between sex work and technology. Created by a team comprising an artist, technical experts, and a former sex worker, the Platforms Sandals are an integrated system of shoes and online services that use the latest technology to improve the working conditions of sex workers.
Made in India: This three-channel video installation documents the quest of artists Harrell Fletcher and Wendy Red Star to determine the identity of the person who fabricated a commercially-produced Indian rug.
