The Department of Visual and Performing Arts, UCCS and THEATREWORKS are proud to announce the residency of the world renowned Double Edge Theatre Company of Ashfield, Massachusetts. There will be several opportunities to see the work of this unique theatre company… and participate too.
The first of these events is a one-hour performance of The Chagall Tales. This piece, based on imagery, music and movement develops from the paintings of artist Marc Chagall. Double Edge Theatre Company, along with some advanced acting and music students from UCCS, will be creating each moment. Also, learn about teh history of devised performance in America and Eastern Europe during a lecture immediately following the performance of The Chagall Tales.
Double Edge is America’s premier experimental theatre company. Located on a farm in rural Massachusetts, Double Edge practices a form of physical theatre training based in Eastern European styles. The work is completely devised and beautiful for its focus on acrobatic forms and original music and dance. The New York Times calls their theatre “fervid, otherworldly… brings the life of the imagination to the stage.”
