What started out in 1979 as a good idea as a refuge for local musicians to gather for a Thanksgiving Eve meal and a little jam session has never died. The annual tradition of this free flowing jam session has lived on well beyond the lifespan of the venue that originally was its home. The Hungry Farmer Restaurant, once a wildly popular eating establishment for locals and tourists, was the unlikely hotbed of musical talent in Colorado Springs in the 1970s and 80s. Jump forward to 2010 when Stargazers Theatre and Event Center is the new Best Live Music Venue in Colorado Springs. On Thanksgiving Eve of 1979, a group of musicians from a variety of Farmer bands gathered to enjoy a holiday meal and share in a little musical exchange. This jam session, started as an innocent alternative for a group of diverse musicians, caught on as a tradition, with many of the same players gathering each year to entertain themselves, along with a handful of friends and fans. The Hungry Farmer Musician’s Reunion is now ready for its 31st year together with a special get together at Stargazers Theatre and Event Center on Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday, November 24th. Come early, as audience veterans of this annual gathering know that seats go fast. This event is a benefit for Care and Share. Please be sure to come out, support a great cause and enjoy fabulous entertainment. Make plans now to see this reunion for yourself, and relive those glory days of music from the Hungry Farmer.
