Opera Theatre of the Rockies continues its popular series of special presentations that set the stage for their annual Pikes Peak Center Grand Opera presentation. Shave and a Haircut: The Barber of Seville Sessions consists of six scheduled events inspired by the Rossini masterpiece. Each highlights different aspects that have contributed in making this one of the world’s most beloved operas.
For the second offering, some of Colorado Springs’ finest theatrical talent takes on the history-making play that inspired the opera. Beaumarchais’s 1775 classic will be read by leading regional actors under the direction of Eve Tilley and be introduced by Colorado College Theatre Professor Thomas Lindblade. Two Barbershop Quartets will borrow the name “The Barbershoppers of Seville” and provide musical accompaniment to the reading of the play.
