    Open the vault. Go behind closed doors. Explore the collection to create a new exhibit. Join the Museum Experience at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum. In a collaborative small-group setting, you learn how exhibits come to life…not by observing, but by doing. Museum staff provides 2 1/2 days of hands-on access and workshop training. You provide a fresh perspective and community insight. Ever wonder what makes a museum? What makes a community? What makes the Pikes Peak region? All three questions are explored in one new program that invites you to become a community curator as we create our first exhibit together: ART IN THE PIKES PEAK REGION.

    During day one, we go on a behind-the-scenes tour with the Director, visit artifact storage to select objects with the Registrar and begin archival research with the Curator. Day two continues with staff-led object research, building mounts with the Exhibit Designer, writing labels using the Museum’s exclusive resources…and, of course, more peeks behind closed doors with the Museum staff. Day three means it’s time to celebrate! Arrive before the public and help our staff make final installations in the new community gallery. Then reveal your work at our opening reception and share your Museum Experience with your friends and neighbors.
