Mendings: Tikun Olam is the work of five artists from the front range of Colorado and Wyoming coming together to present visual responses to the dynamic relationship between humankind and the environment.

Last year the PPCC Downtown Studio Art Gallery presented a multi-disciplinary international extravaganza exploring the dynamic relationship of Conflict & Harmony between humans and their environment. The exhibition was such a success that a decision was made to honor spring with further explorations of natural and manmade phenomena and ephemera culminating in expressions of sculpture, ceramics, photography, printmaking, video and dance for this month’s Mendings: Tikun Olam exhibition.

The exhibiting artists for Mendings include faculty from Colorado College (Heather Oelklaus), Colorado State University (Caroline Peters), Metropolitan State College of Denver (Dawn McFadden) and Wyoming's Casper College (Linda Ryan).

The opening reception on March 11 (5-7:30 pm) will also reveal the sole performance of "Confined Spaces," a collaborative installation created by artist De Lane Bredvik & choreographer Ila Conoley, co-sponsored by Catamount Institute for Environmental Studies and the PPCC Dance Department. In addition to the one-night-only performance of "Confined Spaces," light refreshments will be served and a surprise musical guest will be performing.

Laura Ben-Amots, PPCC gallery director, exclaims with her usual exuberance, "It is such an extraordinary honor to bring together these artists from throughout Colorado and Wyoming. The project is very close to my heart as it is exciting to see powerful artists addressing the issues of honoring and repairing the planet."
