    Collage Poetry Reading and Book Signing

    J. Michael Martinez in conjunction with Mathias Svalina and Julia Cohen will perform reading from their poetry, including collage prose poetry.

    J. Michael Martinez is a poet, essayist and librettist. His writings have appeared in Puerto Del Sol, New American Writing, on National Public Radio, and Mandorla.
    Mathias Svalina is a co-editor of Octopus Magazine and the small press, Octopus Books. He is author of numerous chapbooks and developed collaborative projects with other poets, filmmakers and artists. He received awards and fellowships from The Indiana Review, the Associated Writing Program and Breadloaf, among others. His first book, Destruction Myth, recently published through The Colorado State University Poetry Center and his novella, I Am A Very Productive Entrepreneur is forthcoming from Mud Luscious Books. He teaches writing and literature in Denver.
    Julia Cohen is author of Triggermoon Triggermoon, recently released from Black Lawrence Press, and her poems have published in Colorado Review, jubilat, and Columbia Poetry Review. She is the Associate Editor of the Denver Quarterly.

    Pikes Peak Poet Laureate Project provided funding for the afternoon poetry reading by Martinez, Svalina and Cohen. Poetry West is a local poetry organization that provides a forum where people who enjoy writing, reading and listening to poetry can come together to share this common interest.
