The Manitou Art Theatre in collaboration with the Six Women Playwriting Festival will present six new ten minute plays selected from over 300 submissions in a national contest. The theme for the Play Writing Festival this year is “Changes” and these six plays captured it with playful eloquence.

The plays, directors and casts are:
    • “Glutton for Punishment” by Catherine Noah of Medford, OR. A comedy about a woman who must defend her karmic record to Satan, a beleaguered bureaucrat who toes the company line that the Catholics were right all along. Directed by Lisa Siebert, with Jennifer Mulson and Jeff Miller.
    • “Off to Summer” by Tira Palmquist of Irvine, CA. Drama - Despite her father's protests, Debra finds a way to make his necessary introduction to a retirement home palatable in this drama. Directed by Birgitta De Pree, with LeAnne Carrouth and Mike Miller.
    • “I Thought I Liked Girls . . .” by Nicole Pandolfo of New York, NY. In this comedy, Lucy confesses to her parents that, after a lifetime as a lesbian, she’s discovered she’s straight. Directed by Tracy Mobley-Martinez, with Tracy Hunziker, Steve Emily and Robin Faris.
    • “A Sky Full of Stars” by B.J. Burton of Wayne, PA. A comedy in which Mary struggles to write her romance novel and gets help from her characters and her next-door neighbor. Directed by Eve Tilley, with Ashley Crockett, Armour Ratcliffe, Jeff Miller and Robert Tiffany.
    • “Is It Wednesday?” by Pam Calabrese MacLean of Antigonish, Nova Scotia. A comedy featuring two elderly women who make a surprising discovery while chatting at a bus stop. Directed by Eve Tilley, with Sue Bachman and Sallie Walker.
    • “How to Make a Sweet Potato Pie” by M.E.H. Lewis of Evanston, IL. A drama about June, a war vet, who tries to readjust to civilian life while making a sweet potato pie with her mother-in-law. Directed by Warren Epstein, with Kathy Paradise and JaNae Stansbery.
