What are the sexual politics of meat? Come find out from the nationally celebrated vegan ecofeminist Carol J. Adams and try some delicious vegan food after the presentation. Adams’s slide show will provide an ecofeminist analysis of the interconnected oppressions of sexism, racism and speciesism. In her book, “The Sexual Politics of Meat: A Feminist-Vegetarian Critical Theory,” Adams shows how without even knowing it, meat eaters uphold a sexist, patriarchal culture and argues that because meat eating is (still) a measure of a virile culture and individual, our society equates vegetarianism with emasculation and femininity.
