    “A House in Bali” Lecture

    The annual Gaylord Lecture will include brief introductory comments by Evan Ziporyn, composer and clarinetist, and a screening of a film of his opera, “A House in Bali,” which is based on the memoir of the composer Colin McPhee, who introduced Balinese music to the west. The opera combines Balinese musicians, singers, and dancers with opera singers and a chamber orchestra in a unique blending of traditions that tells the troubled...
