The Modbo is excited to present two bands from New Mexico: Hedia, which consists of viola da gamba, electric guitar and electronics, and Luperci, which plays excellent dark sitar drone. Local talent Animus Invidious will open with his special blend of electro acoustic neo-classical guitar/laptop/synth.

Hedia is the music of multi-instrumentalist Bryce Hample of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Hample creates musical spaces to encompass the listener in a blanket of drifting piano chords, viola da gamba, cello, brass, subdued guitar, and tape manipulations. Strings cut effortlessly through an omnipresent mist of droning, floating notes. Hample has studied Indian Classical music in Varanasi, India, and has played/toured in bands including Yodas House, Elephant Paintings, The Fertile Crescent, and Reighnbeau. He also helps run the small Albuquerque label Featherspines. More information can be found at www.hedia.net.

Luperci is the music/aural project of New Mexico based artist Joseph Angelo. Born in the empty wilderness of the New Mexico desert, Luperci has performed and recorded trance inducing drone music since the winter of 2007. Angelo takes the sitar and merges his love of classical north Indian ragas, industrial noise soundscapes, 60's psychedelic rock, and doom and black metal with an interest in both altered and meditative states in order to create the basis and direction of Luperci. More information can be found at www.luperci.net.
