Johanne Robinson Coiner, a native of Colorado Springs, was a docent at the Fine Arts Center and served on the Board of Trustees for seven years from 1992 through 1999. Her grandfather, Boardman Robinson, helped start the Fine Arts Center and was the first director of its art school. Mrs. Coiner will describe how local cultural organizations, notably the Broadmoor Art Academy, contributed to the birth of the FAC, the first institution in the united States to incorporate the visual arts, music, theater, dance, and an art school under one roof. Learn about the five individuals responsible for the idea, funding, land, building design, and opening celebrating.
