The 71st Annual Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo kicks off on Tuesday, July 12, with a parade through downtown Colorado Springs. Free to watch and fun for the whole family, the parade features floats, marching bands, and a hearty celebration of traditional Western culture. Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo Days bursts out of the chute Wednesday evening, July 13, at the Norris-Penrose Event Center, with nightly performances continuing on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, as well as a Saturday matinee performance. Admission for children 12 & under is half price for evening shows and only $1 for the matinee, so bring the whole family and watch the nation’s finest cowboys and cowgirls compete in bareback riding, bull riding, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing, and other thrilling events. The action’s not just confined to the arena, either—bring the kids outside for fun activities such as Mutton Bustin’ trials, gold panning, pony rides, and carnival amusements.
