Is your soul hankering for a dose of R&B … and funk … and maybe some smooth jazz? Then bring your body down to Stargazers for Cous & Bluez Knightz , a new band that believes it will take the city’s music culture to a new level. The leader, spokesperson, and guitarist--R. (Cous) Cousar--brings a fresh new, yet traditional style to what music lovers have experienced in the music community, along with band members Wayne Holland (bass), David Cannava (drums), Cassondra Collins (vocals), and Bob (White Chocolate) Braidwood (sax). Cous has dedicated his talents to playing the blues, having played R&B and blues for 30 years. He started out as a drummer /percussionist and later took up bass and guitar. In addition, to his studio work with Savoy Records, he has played with bands in New York, Chicago, Baltimore, and now Colorado Springs. His influences include Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, B.B. King, Albert King, John Lee Hooker, Robert Johnson, and a host of other artists.
The Charlie Milo Trio (CM3) has a progressive jazz funk fusion approach ?to music that feels like a reinvention of itself with every performance. Led by its namesake Charlie Milo on bass, with Chris Combs on drums and Eric Blackmore on guitar, CM3 relies heavily on a classical jazz approach, overlaid with a dose of pure George Clinton-esque funk and broken/odd rhythm prog-- rounded out by threads of traditional rock and folk/Americana. The blend is engaging and pulls audiences into an ever-changing musical adventure.
