We’re having a FREE shindig to celebrate a whole year of Stellar Showcases—and you’re invited! Music from the best decades of rock ‘n’ roll—the ‘50s & ‘60s, of course—will have everybody a reelin’ and a-boppin’!
Every month the concert series has featured the finest regional rock & blues bands including Arch Hooks, Jake Loggins, Rikki Dee Hall & Gypsy Smoke, Westside Rhythm Kings, Rampart High School Jazz Band, Michael Reese, Rob Landreth, Nuthin Fancy, Home Field Advantage, Sharon Wolfe, Rev Rocky Wallace with the Rooster, Pangaea Station, and John Wise.
Starburn, host band for the monthly concert, plays ‘60s and ‘70s rock covers by bands including The Doors, Cream, Santana, and Vanilla Fudge. Starburn’s members are local music scene veterans Dale Creel and Jack Baker (formerly of the Channel Cats), along with LeRoi Hammond & Russ Kleiner (of The Nostalgics).
Special guests for the Dance Party will be The Nostalgics, southern Colorado's premiere doo-wop/oldies band. Fun is the name of the game as the band performs your favorite hits by the Marcells, the Platters, Dion, Danny & the Juniors, Bill Haley, Del Shannon, and many others from the late ‘50s & early ‘60s.
Doo-wop features three- and four-part harmonies, with strong bass vocal lines and lead vocals that frequently reach into the high falsetto ranges. They’re characterized by nonsensical syllables such as "doobie-do-ah," "shoo-vap shoo-vah," "doo-ah-doo," etc.
Creating this fun music by The Nostalgics are: Rick Taylor (lead vocals, guitar), Hardy Wright (vocals, guitar), Russ Kleiner (bass, vocals), Rick Bell (drums), and Skip Moore, (keyboards, vocals).
Come along for the joy ride!
