The First Christian Church Concert Series is presenting the Little London Winds, directed by Paul Jacobson. The program will include marches, movie themes, dances and folk songs for wind ensemble. A free will offering will be taken.

Paul Jacobson, conductor, is an active composer, producer, music director and educator. As a musician, Paul has been writing, performing, and directing music professionally for over 25 years. As an educator, Paul has been teaching all ages about music for over 30 years in settings ranging from local churches to public schools through undergraduate and professional levels.
Little London Winds is Colorado Springs’ premier wind ensemble. It was established in 1992 by a small group of serious amateur musicians who wished to play quality literature and maintain a high level of performance. They wanted a name that would connect the group to the area. Before Colorado Springs decided to use the “Springs” from Manitou Springs, the city was called “Little London”, hence the Little London Winds. The members of the group also liked the fact that the name reflected the wonderful tradition of band music begun by the British.
Little London Winds plays a variety of music literature from well-known favorites to newer pieces, performing throughout southern Colorado. Most notable, however, is the group’s wildly popular summer concert series, drawing around 600 audience members a night. LLW also has a history of passing on the love of music and learning by doing clinics and concerts in Colorado Springs and area schools.
Music to be performed on the concert will include Havendance by David Holsinger, National Emblem March by Edwin Bagley, A Festival Prelude by Alfred Reed, Summer Dances by Brian Balmages, Eternal Father, Strong to Save, arranged by Claude Smith, An Irish Rhapsody by Clare Grundman, Music from the Incredibles by Michael Giacchino, Esprit de Corps by Robert Jager, and Hymn to the Fallen by John Williams.
