The FCC Concert Series is presenting a Messiah sing-along led by the Chamber Singers from the Colorado Springs Chorale, directed by Kim Schulz and accompanied by strings, trumpet and Carol Wilson at the organ. The program will include numbers from all three sections of the Messiah, including solos, recitatives and major choruses. There will be a limited number of scores available, so bring your score if you have one. Come and begin the Advent season by singing this glorious music by George Frideric Handel, or just enjoy being surrounded by those singing. A free will offering will be taken.

The Chamber Singers, comprised of 18 auditioned singers from within the larger CS Chorale membership, serves to represent the Chorale in venues and at events where a larger chorus would be impracticable. The group was created to function as an educational and community outreach, to encourage young people to pursue singing beyond high school and college, and to recruit singers for the Chorale. The choir performs choral literature from across the centuries, from the Renaissance to the present. In the spring of 2012, The Chamber Singers will be performing Carol Barnett’s “A World Beloved: A Bluegrass Mass” at the Meadowgrass Music Festival in Black Forest.

The Chamber Singers perform under the direction of Kimberley Schultz, a protégé of the Chorale’s maestro, Don Jenkins. Kimberley received her Masters of Music degree in Choral Conducting in June 2011 from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver. Ms. Schultz has taught secondary choral music for seven years and served as the graduate teaching assistant for choirs at the Lamont School of Music. She was most recently selected as a conductor for the National Conductor’s Symposium in Vancouver, BC. She also teaches piano and voice lessons, and is accompanist at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs.
