Native American footpaths and early U.S. military trails generally followed the waterways along the base of the Front Range. Wagon roads, railways, and bicycle paths developed in the late 19th century. Highway 85, the so-called “Ribbon of Death,” linked Colorado Springs and Denver before the construction of Interstate 25.
Lee is a fourth-generation Coloradan, who co-authored with his wife books on early transportation systems of the West. They are associate producers of the PBS documentary, “Paving the Way, the National Park to Park Highway.”
Everyone interested is invited to the one-hour program. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
