    Japanese Children's Day Festival

    The Japan America Society of Southern Colorado (JASSC) will celebrate "Kodomo-no-Hi" (Japanese Children's Day - a day to honor and celebrate all children) on Saturday, May 5th, 2012 with a fun-filled festival that will include many hands-on traditional Japanese activities and craft-making such as origami, calligraphy, koto musical instrument playing, and carp making.     The Japan America Society of Southern Colorado (JASSC) will celebrate "Kodomo-no-Hi" (Japanese Children's Day - a day to honor and celebrate all children) on Saturday, May 5th, 2012 with a fun-filled festival that will include many hands-on traditional Japanese activities and craft-making such as origami, calligraphy, koto musical instrument playing, and carp making. Volunteer teachers will coach children in making the craft items. All supplies will be provided and children may take home everything they make, just in time for Mother’s Day. Traditional Japanese festivities that will include Ninja and Martial Arts demonstrations, dancing, music and a Taiko (Japanese drums) performance. The final event will be a Gala Children’s Fashion Show, a popular photo-op event. All children are reminded to wear their kimono’s, yukata’s, martial arts uniforms, and oriental costumes so that they can be a participant in the Fashion Show.
