CANCELED: NAACP Juneteenth Celebration
Presented by Colorado College Summer Festival of the Arts at Colorado College - Armstrong Quad
June 16, 2012
Note: This event has been canceled.
While Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on September 22, 1862, slaves in Galveston, Texas, did not find out until almost three years later. The jubilation that followed on that day, June 19, inspired a nationwide event that honors this important day in history. Enjoy soul food, ethnic cuisine, cultural performances, and booths from various local organizations.
