    Zahari Metchkov, pianist and organist, is a native of Sofia, Bulgaria. He received his musical training at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in piano and organ performance, an MM in piano performance, and a DMA in piano performance and music theory. He is an assistant professor of music at Colorado State University-Pueblo, where he teaches applied piano, piano-related courses, and music theory. Dr....

He received his musical training at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in piano and organ performance, an MM in piano performance, and a DMA in piano performance and music theory. He is an assistant professor of music at Colorado State University-Pueblo, where he teaches applied piano, piano-related courses, and music theory. Dr. Metchkov also taught at the Cleveland Institute and Youngtown State University. He is artistic advisor for the San Angelo Piano Festival and directs the Pueblo Keyboard Arts Festival. He has performed with the Cleveland Institute Orchestra, and at Avery Fisher Hall in New York City, and at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC. He has recorded works for piano and orchestra by Franz Liszt and Cesar Franck. This event is part of the 2012 Celebration of the Amateur Pianist.
