    Brazilian Percussion Workshop led by Boulder Samba School’s Founder Greg LaLiberte

    This workshop will introduce the basics of Samba Batucada, or samba drumming, to beginner and advanced musicians alike. Workshop participants will learn to play several Brazilian drums and gain experience with the technique of each instrument and the various rhythms that make samba. Jump in and learn what is so engaging and fun about samba, straight from the streets and backyards of Rio de Janeiro, and why it enlivens all who hear it.
    Some drums will be provided, students are encouraged to bring their personal instruments.

    Greg LaLiberte is founder and president of the Boulder Samba School and a member of the Brazilian band, Ginga, playing percussion, flute, saxophone, and voice. He also performs regularly as a freelance musician, teaches a Brazilian percussion course at Naropa University, and offers percussion workshops to the Boulder public schools and Boulder community.
