Two exciting double photographic exhibitions come to the Imagination Space for a limited time. While they may appear worlds apart at first glance, both deal with our community in action.

The first exhibit is a culmination of a photo contest that has been a joint effort of the Colorado Springs Independent and Imagination Celebration, Move IT!, a study of the human form in motion. The juried results of this photo contest, both in the amateur and professional divisions, will be featured in this exhibition at Imagination Space.

The second show, which recently came together after the incredible photo coverage of the Waldo Canyon fire, is an exhibit of the work of six professional photojournalists from Colorado that chronicled the fire from its discovery in Waldo Canyon through to its last embers before 100% containment. Titled Photojournalists in Action, this dynamic and important collection of photographs relate the visual story of this cataclysmic event that took place over the past 30 days in the Pikes Peak region.

The two shows will be on display side-by-side in Imagination Space, one complimenting the other in showing our community in action and the determination and beauty of photography as a medium of storytelling.

On July 23, select photos and videos from the Move IT! exhibition “move it” to various locations around the Pikes Peak region while some remain at iSpace. These locations which will have public viewings include the Olympic Training Center, the U.S. Olympic Committee Headquarters, and four Pikes Peak Library District branches (Fountain, High Prairie, Rockrimmon and Ute Pass). The Photojournalists in Action exhibition will remain at Imagination Space.
