Add Review/CommentThe Colorado Balloon Classic is one of the most visually spectacular events of the year in the entire Pkes Peak Region. Organized in 1977, it's grown to be the largest and the longest continuously running hot air balloon festival in the Rocky Mountain Region as well as the State of Colorado. It's free and it's held in Memorial Park off Pikes Peak Avenue between Hancock Ave. and Union Blvd near the shores of Prospect Lake. Mass ascensions of approximately 90 balloons are scheduled for 7 a.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings with a Balloon Glo (very cool-they fill and light them up from inside with the burners!) scheduled for Saturday and Sunday evenings. Each year a variety of concessions are available and entertainment is provided during each event. See the website for full details.
