Who are we? The Gatsby Theatre Company is a vigilante theatre company devoted to growing the audience for music, theatre, and the performing arts in the Pikes Peak Region. How will we do it? We plan to offer a wide range of performances, from fully staged musicals and plays, to an annual art song festival, to staged readings of plays banned throughout history. In everything we do, we strive to get to the heart of the material, and discover what it can teach us about being human. We hope to appeal to every generation in the breadth of our offerings, and we hold ourselves to the highest standards of artistic excellence. Why 'vigilante'? We have seen the profound effect music and theatre can have on people's lives. While other vigilantes might fight crime or battle evil geniuses, we work at the other end of the spectrum. We try to help people find meaning and beauty in their day to day existence. For in reality these efforts pay two-fold; while performing the great works of the past and present, we are also teaching our young people how to lead wonderful, meaningful lives... so that one day, hopefully, they won't become evil geniuses.
