    Louis Cicotello Retrospective GOCA 1420 Louis Cicotello Retrospective Presented by UCCS Gallery of Contemporary Art at GOCA 1420 February 2-March 29, 2012 Artist Louis Cicotello contributed greatly to UCCS, serving as Chair of the Visual Arts Department from 1984 - 1998 and Professor of Fine Arts through 2007, inspiring countless students in their own careers and creative endeavors. GOCA will feature a retrospective of his works in a wide variety of media.

      For a show called "the forgiving" it seemed to suffer from a lack of emotion. I sincerely doubt that forgiveness stems from a scientific survey or rational analysis of anything. For whom was this... Expand

      For a show called "the forgiving" it seemed to suffer from a lack of emotion. I sincerely doubt that forgiveness stems from a scientific survey or rational analysis of anything. For whom was this art created? Certainly not for someone really interested in forgiving another. Certainly not for the average business woman who steps in the gallery over her lunch hour. Certainly not for me. Probably not for you. "Life and art merge" sounds like a promising start, but the payoff is far from emotionally resonant - unless you're seeking emptiness and frustration. In that case, definitely stop by and uhm ... enjoy? Collapse

      The GOCA 121 show was a huge disappointment. Even in COS we expect more of a first time opening. The UCCS faculty and staff are in an ivory tower. It is time they come down and realize that the art... Expand

      The GOCA 121 show was a huge disappointment. Even in COS we expect more of a first time opening. The UCCS faculty and staff are in an ivory tower. It is time they come down and realize that the art experience should inspire thought, feeling or reflection .... so conceive your exhibits carefully!!!! Curatorial work is more than dressing up in the black and pretending you are in New York. The works in general were contrived and without depth. I hope there will be an improvement in GOCA 121 shows but judging from the exhibits over the last few years, I feel that the UCCS gallery staff are incapable of self reflection. Collapse
