The Modbo is downtown’s newest arts space. We have first Friday openings featuring both local and national emerging and mid-career artists. We also function as a venue for art classes, poetry readings, small scale theater, and classical, jazz, and rock music performances

    Rubrittica vs. Ceralusia at The Modbo and S.P.Q.R. The Modbo Rubrittica vs. Ceralusia at The Modbo and S.P.Q.R. Presented by The Modbo at The Modbo May 4-June 1, 2012 The Rubrittican Trust for Historic Preservation and the Historical Society of Ceralusia present “Rubrittica vs. Ceralusia,” opening in the Arts Alley District on Friday, May 4th. This opening will take place at The Modbo and S.P.Q.R. and goes from 5:30 pm until midnight. The show runs through Friday, June 1st. “Rubrittica vs. Ceralusia” is an historical exploration of war; an opportunity to examine both human nature and the foibles of memory.

      My family and I were having a great time listening to the music at Acacia park, but as we were leaving a bunch of religious fanatics showed up with a microphone & amp near The Uncle Wilbur Fountain... Expand

      My family and I were having a great time listening to the music at Acacia park, but as we were leaving a bunch of religious fanatics showed up with a microphone & amp near The Uncle Wilbur Fountain - they were screaming about sinners and Jesus and blocking people's paths trying to hand them flyers as they walked to their cars - we were going to go to dinner downtown, but after walking through the chaos we decided to go somewhere less "preachy" (you could hear the fanatics all the way down Tejon thanks to their amp). I hope that this isn't a regular occurrence at these concerts. The music is great, but NOT worth the drama!!! Collapse

      The Bottesini project was a great inititation into the world of small jazz clubs. The musicians where all very talented and demonstrated a variety of Jazz styles and individual abilities to play their instrumentation well. They watched each other intently and played tight as well as comping each others solo breaks. Overall an enjoyable evening listening to individuals who love the musical styling of Jazz. Collapse
