Founded in 1986 as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity is one of 27 affiliates in Colorado.

The organization makes permanent housing solutions possible for low-income families in El Paso County that could not otherwise qualify for a traditional mortgage. They provide our homeowners with two foundations: one made of concrete for their house, and one made of education and resources (including classes on budgeting and money management; credit and debt; estate planning; protecting assets; mortgage comparison and closing documents; landscaping, home maintenance, interior design; and homeowner insurance) for financial stability and owning a home. The goal is to provide a strong foundation for the house structure as well as the family’s ability to purchase and keep a home. This is a long-term partnership to support each new family through every step of the homeownership process and make certain their experience as homeowners is positive after closing on the house.

Pikes Peak Habitat has assisted over 150 families achieve first-time homeownership. The organization selects partner families according to (1) their need for affordable housing, (2) their willingness to partner, and (3) their ability to make the monthly mortgage payments.
