    About the artist:

    Birgitta De Pree is a professional Actor and Educator whose work includes performing, writing, directing and teaching. She received her MFA from the National Theater Conservatory in Denver and has performed in venues throughout the United States, including the Denver Center Theater Company, Folger Shakespeare Company, the Rhinoceros Theater, San Francisco, Denver’s Comedysportz, the Sangre De Cristo Art Center and more. Her original one-woman shows for young audiences tour extensively and she represented the United States with her play “Elephant” at the Vancouver International Children’s Theater Festivals of Vancouver and Calgary. Birgitta teaches extensively throughout the state, developing unique workshops for drama students, corporations, leadership groups and educators. She has taught for the Colorado Springs Conservatory, Pikes Peak Leadership, The Denver Center Theater Academy, The Museum of Outdoor Arts, Denver School of the Arts, Bemis School of Art, The University of Denver, Colorado State University, The Aesthetic Education Institute of Colorado and in over 90 schools throughout the state as an Artist in Residence for Young Audiences. Birgitta works extensively with teachers developing and exploring applications of theater techniques throughout the curriculum. As Artistic Director of the Manitou Art Theater, she and husband Jim Jackson are dedicated to the creation and production of original theater for the Pikes Peak region. Their work has received many awards including the Gazette’s 2008 Award for Best Local Actor and Actress and the Pikes Peak Art Council Award for Best Original Play (Signature)
