Landmark

Commissioned in 1972 and installed on August 3, 1973, this large, abstract steel sculpture called Windmark or Landmark was created by Colorado College instructor Jack Edwards, assisted by recent graduates. It was placed along Colorado Highway 115 when Cheyenne Mountain Ranch was being developed and was later moved to Quail Lake Park.

The gigantic weather-vane-type steel structure balances on a ball bearing mechanism in such a way that it can be moved by a gentle breeze or even the touch of a finger.

David Sunderland of Gates Land Company commissioned the piece.

Date created: 1973
