This 2014 Douglas Rouse mural proclaims the nature of the business inside: Little Richard’s Toy Store. The whole building was remodeled so that several related businesses, in buildings next to each other, could have a unified external architecture. The mural is filled with a variety of antique toys. Note the gorilla and banana peel on top of the flying clipper. The children looking into the toy store are in sepia to pay homage to Colorado Spring’s past. The script, “Po’ Dick Flyer”, on the side of the wagon is the artist’s way of adding hidden humor into his work. See below for additional photos.
