Stumped

Created out of thick, rounded, curvilinear bands of steel formed to resemble a tree, the space within the bands is filled with various sizes of river rock. Artist Doyle Svenby is a self-proclaimed “scrap yard genius” who creates memorable, unique pieces out of discarded objects. The artist works mainly with steel, concrete, and stone, as exemplified by his piece, Stumped. “Art is powerful,” Svenby says. “In my work I attempt to create pieces that speak out and tell you something. It’s a chance to shape your mind and to express your own creativity.”

Stumped was purchased by Community Ventures, and donated to the City of Colorado Springs.
