The Prospector

Welcoming visitors to historic Old Colorado City, The Prospector celebrates the mining heritage of our region. Standing nine and a half feet tall, this larger-than-life gold prospector, toting his pack burro alongside him, offers a likeness of Colorado Springs’ earliest residents.

Funding for this project was spearheaded by the late George Fisher, a resident of Colorado Springs and former prospector. Fundraising was accomplished by a non-profit entity, Prospectors, Inc.

Colorado artist Cloyd Barnes has been working in bronze since 1977. The artist currently lives in Centennial, Colorado.
