Outfitted with a telescope, pistol and saber, explorer Zebulon Pike stands with head turned toward Pike’s Peak. An Army officer in the early 1800’s, Pike was charged with leading an expedition through the Louisiana Purchase. It was during this trek that he recorded discovery of the mountain that would later bear his name. Commissioned by Colorado native Jasper D. Ackerman, this bronze piece was created in 1985 by Oklahoma sculptor Rich Muno.
