Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center

The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center was founded in 1936 by Alice Bemis Taylor and designed in the Art Deco style by New Mexico architect John Gaw Meem.

The FAC Main at the Taylor Museum includes: the main gallery, the Performing Arts department, featuring a Repertory Theatre Company,  and The Bemis School of Art, offering art education to the local community.

      Coalescence: Photography By Barbara Sparks Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center Coalescence: Photography By Barbara Sparks Presented by Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center December 17, 2011-February 19, 2012 For Colorado Springs photographer Barbara Sparks, the camera has become an essential part of her experiences traveling throughout the world. This exhibition of Sparks’s photographs from Nepal, Turkey, Italy, Guatemala, New Mexico, and Colorado are a luminous glimpse into the landscapes and cultures of these regions.

      Fantastic Menagerie: The Work of Jessica Freyre-Cuebas Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center Fantastic Menagerie: The Work of Jessica Freyre-Cuebas Presented by Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center October 22, 2011-April 1, 2012 In a series of wood engravings and linocuts, Puerto Rican contemporary artist Jessica Freyre-Cuebas (born 1979) represents a cast of fantastic animal characters that embody human emotions and personality traits. These creatures provide insight into the artist’s character and views on what she describes as, “the drama or tragicomedy of man and woman’s social coexistence.” Inspired by the literary works of Socrates, Victor Hugo, Carl Jung, and Jorge Luis...

      02/18/12- 06/03/12	Terry Maker: Reckoning Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center Terry Maker: Reckoning Presented by Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center February 18-June 3, 2012 Terry Maker’s large-scale installation in the FAC’s signature El Pomar Gallery will be a contemporary, visual interpretation of the Genesis account of the Garden of Eden. Maker will be referencing English literature from William Golding's Lord of the Flies, T.S. Eliot's Wasteland, Milton’s Paradise Lost and John Steinbeck's East of Eden. She will also be creating new work that will include a "Tree of Life" image made out of old movie film.
